When I listen in on the global conversation these days, two sets of voices stand out.
First are what I call the Chicken Little voices. Citing negative economic indicators, terrorist activities and shifting social mores Chicken Little would have us believe “the sky is falling.” Batten down the hatches, tighten your belts and prepare for bad times ahead, is their advice.
On the other hand there is a chorus of “Yes we can!” rising from the lips of people around the world who want to believe that it is possible to make a difference in the world. Their call is a call for courage, to dream a better world, and to act on those dreams, individually and collectively, to create the kind of world we want to live in.
Now I don’t know where ultimate truth lies. Whether the sky is falling as Chicken Little says. Or whether we may yet turn the tide and create the world of our dreams. But here are a couple of things I know for sure.

“The same old, same old just isn’t going to cut it anymore.” (Darlene Chrissley)
So I am calling to you from the side of courage to make 2009 One Extraordinary Year.
First because it will make you happy. And secondly, because a community of positive minded people with the courage to act on their dreams, is a powerful antidote to the wave of helplessness and dismay that is flooding our globe.
